One of the great things about owning a motorcycle is the many
things that can be done to customize it. I have really enjoyed my
R1200GS and have made a few upgrades along the way. One of my
most recent upgrades is the FlowJet Shield from Wunderlich. This
replaces the large windscreen and just covers the gauges as is
more typical on sport bikes. The extra air offered by this setup
makes these hot summer rides more comfortable. It also provides a
quieter ride. The sound level is similar to standing on the pegs
and getting your helmet out of the turbulent air near the
motorcycle. One disadvantage with this setup is that is not
easily adjustable. The shield does have a short range of motion,
but to adjust it both an Allen key and a crescent wrench are
needed. It seems that some simple modifications could make this
adjustable without needing tools. The added wind really feels
good. Adjusting the screen over its small range of motion changes
the air and sound level allowing for fine tuning. Overall, I
think this is a great product, and I recommend it to other
R1200GS owners looking for some relief from the heat. The
instructions were clear and easy to follow, and I completed the
installation in less than fifteen minutes.
